Common Name: Kempas
Botanical Name: Koompassia malaccensis

Hardness: Janka rating of 1710, Kempas would be considered relatively hard.

Appearance: Kempas has a significant amount of grain and color variation. Grain will vary from straight to wavy, but is usually tight. Color variation runs from red to brown in the heartwood, and light pink to light brown in the sap wood.

Color Change: Kempas's color change compared to other flooring is relatively minor, showing only a slight change from an already red or pink-toned brown to darker red brown.
